EDIT: If you agree with this message, I ask you to fave this artwork and if possible, share it actively. I rarely ask of such things, but I would've liked if this deviation landed in the popular section for education purposes and to represent the true pluralism of dA's contingent and opinion.
This is my answer at the in my opinion, despicable in its hypocisy, "Spirit Day Project" that dA is holding.
Why despicable, you ask? Well because it glorifies and puts on a high pedestal of importance an issue that's not all that important in the plethora of related issues.
I'm sorry, but lots less people, gay people that is, die from ZOMG BULLYING than people who kill themselves over terminal weakness or other social unfairness. And yet, no one cries "Wolf!" in those cases.
What I want to say is this:
Why whenever a person kills themselves because their business went bankrupt, their significant other died or left them, they have some physical disability, it's the duty of the RELATIVES and closest social circles to prevent those things or deal with them.
But whenever it's a oh my god, GAY person killing themselves because of related issue of social hardships, it's the WHOLE FUCKING SOCIETY'S DUTY to prevent it and deal with it?
Am I the only one who sees this as absolutely fucking shameless hypocrisy? Am I the only one who stands up and says: "Oh yeah? Gay people kill themselves because they have it hard? Well people with terminal sickness and disabled war veterans have it hard too, so fuck you in your purple ass and gtfo out of my sight untill you remeber these social stratas too!"?
Fuck you, that's what I want to say. If someone rejects life because of rudeness at school and shit, then they fucking don't deserve it in the first place. They don't know what really is shitty and hopeless.
So, as a person who had been and is dealing with suicide-related issues, I think it's MY duty this time to remind whoever I can that you are being led by the media in the direction you don't want to go, really.
Remember all, or remember none.
